Green tea is the most widely produced and consumed type of tea in Japan. It is obtained through a process that "heats" (through steam cooking) the freshly picked leaves, preventing oxidation and thus maintaining many of the properties contained within them unaltered. Steaming the leaves also has another advantage: it intensifies the taste of the tea and enhances its freshness, preserving the flavors, fragrances and rich, full-bodied colors of the tea.
The matcha tea is a variant of green tea, but in a more concentrated form. In fact, thanks to the way the plant is grown and the methods of preparation and consumption, the drink is rich in vitamins and beneficial properties.
Japanese green teas are rich in vitamin C and are particularly suitable to taste alone or to accompany meals.
