HITACHINO is the most famous craft beer in Japan, characterized by the iconic owl and produced in Ibaraki Prefecture by KIUCHI BREWERY, an ancient producer of Sake and Shochu since 1823. Now the family is in its eighth generation.

It is a brand of top fermented beers born in 1996, when the owners decided to combine the tradition and knowledge given by 190 years of sake production with a brewery that would relaunch the concept of Japanese craft beer tending towards pure authenticity.

Hitachino is the name of the province in ancient Japan that covers the brewery area, famous for its fertile soil, thus making their land perfect for brewing.

Kiuchi Brewery has rediscovered the long thought lost Kaneko Golden Japanese barley. The same use of native hops, such as Sorachi Ace, is a tribute to the Japanese tradition. Hitachino Nest Beer also makes use of unique raw materials, such as sake yeasts, ancient varieties of red rice and traditional fruits. Unique ingredients that enhance the typically oriental flavors and full of umami of its beer specialties.
