DESCRIPTION
A handcrafted umeshu produced by Tatenokawa Shuzō in Yamagata Prefecture. On the nose, it offers intense aromas of stone fruit and almond, with notes of amaretto and ripe plum. On the palate it is fresh and enveloping, with an elegant sweetness balanced by a lively acidity.
Kodakara Nanko Umeshu achieves a perfect balance between tradition and innovation, delivering a refined yet versatile tasting experience: excellent as an aperitif or alongside dessert, and also fantastic in cocktails or served over ice. It pairs beautifully with creamy desserts such as crème brûlée or chocolate mousse, aged cheeses, and rich dishes like foie gras.
CURIOSITY
Kajitsu-shu (Japanese fruit liqueurs) can be made from a sake base, to which fruit or zest is added, or from a distilled base—in which case the profile often becomes more “full of character.”
