Type: FRUITY SAKE
Alcohol content: 14.5%
Service temperature: 8°C
Ingredients: ume (Japanese plums, ![]()
from Ibaraki Prefecture), alcohol and fructose.
DESCRIPTION
Kiuchi Umeshu is obtained by distilling Hitachino Nest Beer until beer brandy is obtained, in which the plums are then soaked. The flavor of the plums perfectly matches the hoppy taste of the beer. Fructose is also added to add sweetness. It features a refreshing hop aroma, a slight sweetness, and a pronounced acidity.
Great as an aperitif or to accompany dessert, as well as fantastic in cocktails or served with ice (definitely try it in a highball with soda, tonic, or ginger beer).
FOOD PAIRING
This umeshu pairs well with both sweet and savory dishes, thanks to its aromatic complexity.
Try it with soft and creamy cheeses like Camembert or Brie. The contrast between the sweet fruity liqueur and the richness of the cheese creates a delicious pairing. Or with a selection of dried fruits, such as walnuts and almonds, which will complement its natural tones.
To accompany the dessert, we recommend a light cheesecake or a cream cake, but also a lemon or mango sorbet, which are even more refreshing.
